Every year, the Gesellschaft für Operations Research (GOR) awards a prize for up to four excellent doctoral theses in the field of Operations Research on its annual conference.
This year, Marika Karbstein has been awarded a prize for her doctoral thesis "Line Planning and Connectivity". The thesis develops a mathematical theory for path connectivity in graphs in order to optimize networks in public transport. It was developed within the framework of the research project "B15 Service Design in Public Transport" of the Berlin-based DFG Research Center Matheon. The prize was awarded to Marika Karbstein on 03/09/2014 during the opening ceremony of this year’s GOR annual conference at RWTH Aachen by the chairman of the prize committee Prof. Dr. Alf Kimms.
