The Cooperative Library Network Berlin-Brandenburg (KOBV) is the association of all university and university of applied sciences libraries, all public libraries and numerous special and public libraries in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. Responsible for the KOBV are the states of Berlin (Senate Department for Culture and Senate Department for Higher Education and Research) and Brandenburg (Ministry of Science, Research and Culture). The aim of the KOBV is to improve the regional information infrastructure and to develop new services for library users. The KOBV feels particularly committed to the Open Access movement and Open Research. The central coordination unit of the network is the KOBV-Zentrale at the Zuse Institute Berlin. In addition to service and consulting tasks, the KOBV-Zentrale also takes on development tasks in the form of projects. The KOBV cooperates closely with the Research and Competence Center Digitalization Berlin (digiS), which is also located at ZIB.
