We invite students from TU Berlin, FU Berlin, Charité, and Humboldt University to join the Student Research Opportunities Programx (StuROPx) this summer. Curated by the Berlin University Alliance, we at Zuse Institute Berlin will host the StuROPx group on non-rigid 3D registration under topological changes – a key challenge in geometric computer vision.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about and work on a challenging problem in 3D vision: aligning 3D models to monocular 2D images of tearing or fracturing objects. With applications in medical imaging, robotics, and augmented reality, this program offers a unique research-based learning experience, equipping participants with advanced techniques while also providing opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge research.
Key highlights of the program:
-
Theoretical lessons and hands-on experience with advanced algorithms related to the topic of non-rigid registration
-
Exposure to real-world problems and research
-
6 LP/180 h work load, creditable as extracurricular (Free choice / überfachlichen Wahlpflichtbereich / Wahlpflicht)
-
Possibility of contributing to a potential research publication
Who should apply?
Any students enrolled in either TU Berlin, FU Berlin, Charité, or Humboldt University and having completed a course in computer vision, image processing, or any closely related topic with intermediate or advanced programming skills in either Python or MATLAB and interested in geometric computer vision are welcome to join!
The semester will feature lectures, research discussions, intensive study of current literature, and research assignments, guiding participants through the process of pushing the boundaries of the field.
Additional details:
- Language of course: English
- Venue: All sessions at the Zuse Institute Berlin campus (Takustraße 7, 14195 Berlin)
